More people entered a Green Line station through a fare gate on Marathon Monday than any single day since before the pandemic, the MBTA said Thursday, which touted the crowded stations as a “milestone” moment for the transit agency.

According to the new terms, the MBTA will pay up to $148 million extra to accommodate higher-than-anticipated costs related to the COVID-19 pandemic and disruptions in the supply chain, increasing the total contract value to over $1 billion.
