She became the shortest-serving Prime Minister in British history when she resigned from office after just 44 days, taking office on September 6 and resigning on October 20. Ms Truss has been MP for South West Norfolk since 2010 and was formerly the foreign secretary before being elected party leader, replacing Boris Johnson.
In an interview this morning, she refused to apologise (again), saying that mortgage rates have gone up ‘in every country in the free world’.
