Browsing: Anderson Cooper
After earlier positions with other outlets, Emmy and Peabody Award winner Anderson Cooper is best known as a reporter / anchor on Cable News Network (CNN) which he joined in 2001. Since 2007, he has also been a correspondent for CBS News program “60 Minutes.” While never denying he’s gay, Cooper, insisting that it would harm his image as an objective journalist, refused to confirm media assertions dating to at least 2003 that he is until 2012 when he released a statement saying: “I’ve begun to consider whether the unintended outcomes of maintaining my privacy outweigh personal and professional principle. It’s become clear to me that by remaining silent on certain aspects of my personal life for so long, I have given some the mistaken impression that I am trying to hide something—something that makes me uncomfortable, ashamed, or even afraid. This is distressing because it is simply not true. . . . The fact is, I’m gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud.”
