The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has once again stopped Texas from arresting and deporting migrants accused of illegally entering the U.S. The court's panel ruled hours after the law briefly went into effect on Tuesday. A divided U.S. Supreme Court had allowed the state law to take effect while a legal challenge is ongoing. Some sheriffs were prepared to embrace the unprecedented state expansion into border enforcement, while others were hesitant. However, the law was put on hold again by an order from the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals a few hours later.
