A woman from New Jersey who was very ill has received a pig kidney transplant, part of a dramatic pair of surgeries that also stabilized her failing heart. Doctors at NYU Langone Health report that 54-year-old Lisa Pisano is recovering well. She is only the second patient ever to receive a pig kidney. The first, a man transplanted last month in Boston, is also doing well. Pisano was much sicker, suffering from a combination of heart and kidney failure. This is the latest in a series of efforts to make animal-to-human organ transplants a reality.

The Transportation Department announced on Wednesday that the final rules will precisely define when consumers are entitled to a refund for a delayed flight. Previously, this was determined by the airlines. Now the government specifies that refunds are due for delays of three hours on domestic flights and six hours for international flights.
