Former President Donald Trump’s choices have been successful in two important elections in Ohio that may impact Republicans’ opportunities for potentially important victories this autumn. In the tough and costly competition to challenge Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in the upcoming election, voters on Tuesday selected Cleveland businessman Bernie Moreno over state Sen. Matt Dolan and Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose. In the northwest part of Ohio, state Rep. Derek Merrin emerged victorious over former state Rep. Craig Riedel just one day after receiving an endorsement from Trump. Merrin will compete against long-serving U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur in the upcoming election. The Texas Attorney General has said the state’s law mirrored federal law and “was adopted to address the ongoing crisis at the southern border, which hurts Texans more than anyone else.”

The final Emerson College poll of probable GOP voters, conducted on Sunday and Monday, indicates Moreno with 38 percent support — a 9-point lead…
New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin (D) says he will not intervene to defend the state’s system of organizing its primary ballot based on the “county line,” agreeing with a lawsuit that it is unconstitutional. Platkin said in a letter to U.S. District Judge Zahid Quraishi on Sunday that he believes the county line system…
