A federal appeals court once again blocked Texas from arresting and deporting migrants accused of illegal entry into the U.S. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued a ruling hours after the law briefly took effect on Tuesday. The law had been allowed to take effect by a divided U.S. Supreme Court while a legal challenge is ongoing. Before the court's decision, some sheriffs were prepared for a historic expansion of state involvement in border enforcement. Others were hesitant. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals later put the law on hold again.
