A significant storm is depositing heavy, damp snow in Colorado — leading to flight cancellations and the closure of a highway that links Denver to Colorado ski resorts. The storm began Wednesday night and is projected to persist until Friday morning. The heaviest snow accumulations were anticipated in Colorado’s Front Range area, where the majority of the state’s population resides, with the greatest amount falling in the foothills and mountains west of Denver. Denver itself received about 8 inches of snow by Thursday morning, but the weather service cautioned that the snow would intensify later. Residents were out walking their dogs, clearing snow from sidewalks and testing snow-shoeing.
