Former President Trump criticized former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, asserting that Ryan should be taken off the board of Fox Corp.
“Rupert Murdoch should dismiss unimpressive RINO Paul Ryan from the Board of Fox,” Trump stated in a post on his Truth Social website early Thursday. “Ryan is a loser, always has been, and always will be. He was the WEAKEST & MOST INCOMPETENT Speaker of the House in its History. Fox will sink to the absolute bottom of the pack if Paul Ryan has anything to do with it!”
Trump’s remarks come a day after Ryan said at the Milken Global Institute Conference that he would not support the former president, who is anticipated to be the GOP’s nominee this fall.
“Character is too important to me,” Ryan remarked about Trump. “And it’s a job that requires the kind of character that he just doesn’t have.”
Ryan departed from Congress in 2019 and has since joined the board of Fox Corp., the parent company of Fox News.
Trump has persistently criticized Fox in recent months over its reporting on him and the Republicans who opposed him for the GOP nomination.
The former president has denounced Rupert Murdoch, the conservative media mogul who relinquished control of the company to his eldest son Lachlan last fall, as a “globalist” attempting to prevent him from regaining the presidency.
Many of Fox News’s leading hosts continue to strongly support Trump and spend significant time criticizing his primary political opponent, President Biden.
