A member of Vice President Harris's security team was removed due to a behavioral problem, as confirmed by the Secret Service to The Hill.
The Secret Service special agent, who was involved in overseeing the vice president's departure from Joint Base Andrews on Monday morning, started showing behavior that concerned their colleagues, according to Secret Service chief of communications Anthony Guglielmi.
“The agent was reassigned while medical personnel were called. The Vice President was at the Naval Observatory at the time of the incident and it did not affect her departure from Joint Base Andrews,” he added.
Harris went to Wisconsin from Joint Base Andrews on Monday but was still at her residence, the Naval Observatory, when the incident occurred.
The Washington Examiner originally reported on the incident, describing it as a conflict with other agents before the vice president’s flight on Monday. The outlet stated that the agent became aggressive and when a supervisor tried to calm the agent, a physical altercation ensued, resulting in the agent being handcuffed.
Guglielmi mentioned in his statement that the “Secret Service takes the safety and well-being of our employees very seriously” and did not provide any further details about the incident or the agent.
