Dan Abrams, a host for cable news, expressed feeling “ashamed and embarrassed” about the protests at Columbia University in New York related to Israel’s conflict with Hamas in the Middle East.
During his prime-time cable news show on NewsNation, Dan Abrams, a graduate of Columbia University Law School, stated that he fully supports the apprehension of the students, professors, and outside agitators who are preventing others from attending classes on campus. He differentiated between legitimate protests and encampments that hinder access to classes.
Columbia had more than 100 students arrested over pro-Palestine demonstrations late last week. They are advocating for a cease-fire in Gaza in response to Israel’s ongoing military operations following a terrorist attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.
The White House condemned the protests, labeling them as “blatantly antisemitic” and accusing them of inciting “calls for violence.”
Dan Abrams, a Columbia graduate, criticized both the participating students and faculty involved in the demonstrations.
“When you choose to protest on private property, you must still follow certain rules. You cannot simply seize control of the campus based on your belief in the righteousness of your cause,” he emphasized. “This behavior is not normal. Additionally, the professors siding with the student protesters should be more aware. This situation is highlighting their extremist tendencies.”
