A birthday party at a boat club turned tragic when a suspected drunk driver crashed into it, resulting in the deaths of two children and injuries to 15 people.
According to a Michigan Sheriff, a brother and sister aged eight and five died at the scene on Saturday.
The Swan Creek Boat Club in Berlin Township, about 30 miles south of Detroit, was where the accident took place.
Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough described the scene as 'chaotic' with several people seriously injured.
According to Goodnough, the first responders found the scene extremely chaotic and filled with high emotions from those involved and witnesses to the incident.
Two helicopters and ambulances transported three children and six adults to area hospitals, some with life-threatening injuries.
Other injured individuals received first aid at the site and some were taken to hospitals by private vehicles.
A 66-year-old woman was driving the vehicle which crashed into the building, as per the Michigan sheriff.
The woman driving the vehicle was suspected of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death and was taken into custody, although her identity was not disclosed.
The Michigan sheriff mentioned that she was co-operating with authorities and could face more charges as the investigation goes on.
