The ad for pain relief gel Voltarol featured people playing football at Westway Sports Centre near where 72 people died when a fire in the tower block fire. in 2017.
But Karim Mussilhy, who lost his uncle in the fire, noticed that the structure was missing from the advert.
He said people seemed to want it gone and felt upset that it was no longer visible in the advert.
Mr Mussilhy recognized the skyline as he used to play on the same pitches and noticed signs of editing.
A spokesperson for Haleon, the health company behind the advert, apologized for any distress and confirmed the ad would be removed immediately.

A campaign group representing survivors and bereaved families shared a post criticizing the advert on social media.
The post expressed dismay at the tower being edited out, stating that the phasing out of Grenfell seemed to be happening despite the lack of justice.
The leader of Kensington and Chelsea Council acknowledged the concerns of the families and emphasized the importance of not editing out Grenfell.
The Grenfell Tower public inquiry announced that its final report would not be published before the seventh anniversary of the fire.
This means any potential police investigation and charges related to corporate manslaughter and negligence will also be delayed.
