Tesla sales drop by nearly 9%, the most in 4 years
Tesla experienced a sharp decline in sales last quarter due to increased competition globally, a slowdown in the growth of electric vehicle sales, and unsuccessful price reductions in attracting more buyers.
The Austin, Texas-based company announced on Tuesday that it delivered 386,810 vehicles worldwide from January to March, which is almost 9% lower than the 423,000 sold in the same quarter of the previous year. This marks the first year-over-year quarterly sales decrease in nearly four years.
Despite the decrease in sales, Tesla managed to regain its position as the top seller of electric vehicles globally from China’s BYD.
