Kia is recalling more than 427,000 of its Telluride SUVs because of a problem that could make the cars move by themselves when they're supposed to be still.
Reports from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration explain that some 2020-2024 Tellurides have issues with the intermediate shaft and right front driveshaft, which might not be fully connected. This could lead to the cars moving unintentionally while parked, raising the risk of accidents.
This month, Kia America made the decision to recall all 2020-2023 model year and certain 2024 model year Tellurides, as shown in documents from the NHTSA. At that time, no injuries or accidents had been reported.
To fix this problem, the recall documents state that dealers will update the electronic parking brake software of the affected cars and replace any damaged intermediate shafts free of charge.
Texas AG probes Boeing supplier
The Texas attorney general is investigating a crucial Boeing supplier that is already under federal regulators' scrutiny for the quality of the parts it supplies to the aircraft manufacturer.
The Texas Attorney General's office, under Ken Paxton, has begun looking into Spirit AeroSystems due to apparent defects in parts that have resulted in numerous worrisome or risky incidents.
A representative from Spirit mentioned in a statement last week that the company is dedicated to providing top-quality products to all its customers, including Boeing, although they did not comment on the investigation.
Paxton has requested the Kansas-based supplier, Spirit AeroSystems, to provide documents from 2022 related to their communication with investors and Boeing regarding part flaws and the actions taken to address them.
