The WWE’s yearly event, Wrestlemania, might be completely booked at Lincoln Financial Field on April 6-7, but fans can still experience the excitement of the big occasion.
Suplex Vintage Wrestling is organizing a whole-day, all-ages, outdoor block celebration to welcome WrestleMania 40 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. along the 600 block of South Street.
“Philadelphia has a strong connection to wrestling,” stated Suplex Vintage Wrestling co-owner Chris Kindig. “It has a lot of history and prestige. We feel a sense of responsibility to honor the culture that originated here. When people visit our store for the first time, they are filled with excitement. We take pride in providing a wrestling paradise. For SuplexMania, it will be a one-of-a-kind experience in Philadelphia. This event is a way to welcome wrestling fans to our city, celebrate the electrifying atmosphere of WrestleManina, and exhibit our collection, which took over a decade to assemble. We are eagerly awaiting the celebration. Look for the large open-air wrestling ring in the heart of South Street.”
The full-scale wrestling ring in the middle of the street will showcase live matches with professional wrestlers, opportunities to take photos with wrestling memorabilia and special guests, tasty food and drinks, food trucks, dancing, music, and more.
Brauhaus Schmitz will organize an outdoor Biergarten with beer from Stone Cold Austin, as well as The People’s Margarita made with Dwayne Johnson’s Teramana Tequila, plus other cold beverages. Prominent hip hop artist and wrestling enthusiast Westside Gunn will be there selling clothes from his “4th Rope” pop-up shop.
