A native PS5 version of Minecraft It seems like it may happen soon after files were found in the PlayStation Store.
Minecraft can be played on many platforms, but there isn't a version specifically for the latest generation yet.
Currently, the only way to play Minecraft on PlayStation is through the PS4 version, which is compatible with the PS5. Xbox The game was updated last year to support 4K, but there is still no optimized version for the current generation on either platform.
However, it appears that a native PS5 version is likely on the way after files for the game were discovered in the backend of the Sony PlayStation store.
Social media account PlayStation Game Size, known for uncovering games early through hidden store files, confirmed the discovery.
As a result, it's very likely that an Xbox Series X/S version is also in development – although Microsoft has not yet acknowledged their existence.
The existence of files in the store suggests a release could be imminent, but it's unclear if it will be a random launch or tied to an upcoming Sony or Microsoft event.
Mention of Minecraft on PS5 surfaced during Microsoft's Federal Trade Commission trial last year, where Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer blamed Sony for the absence of a PS5 version.
'Sony was hesitant to provide us with development kits for the PlayStation 5 at the same time as they were giving them to other developers, putting us at a disadvantage compared to others,' Spencer said (via ). 'I believe Sony could have just as easily sent the development kits to Microsoft as they did to any other publisher.' IGN
