Spring has arrived, and the famous groundhog's family has grown.
Punxsutawney Phil and his wife, Phyllis, are now officially parents. Fox43 reports how the woodchuck couple recently welcomed two babies into their lives.
The official Punxsutawney Phil Facebook page announced this news Wednesday, confirming that “The babies are currently with mom and dad at the zoo that is located at the Punxsutawney Memorial Library, and can be viewed thru the viewing window!”
Hundreds of comments appeared on the post within an hour of its publication, the majority of which was full of congratulations for the happy family.
“Fantastic!!” reads one such comment. “Congrats Phyllis and Phil!”
“Wonderful!” reads another. “Congratulations!”
Since, as the Facebook page notes, “Punxsutawney Phil does not speak,” the groundhog hasn’t provided his own public statement regarding the birth of his first children. One may only assume he’s a lot happier than his usual stony face — as seen during the Groundhog Day ceremonies each year — would imply.
Indeed, Phil’s personal life is typically clouded in mystery: People seldom hear about the rodent apart from the day he predicts whether or not spring will come early.
Heck, one may be hard-pressed to find a lot of people who even knew that Phil was married! Unfortunately, according to his FAQ page, their union will be short-lived, since only Phil drank an elixir of immortality in order to forever predict the seasons.
But Phyllis? Tough.
The sex of Phil and Phyllis’s kids has not yet been revealed. Neither have their names.
