Alex Bain from Coronation Street has posted a sincere message on his social media account as he gets ready to leave the ITV soap.
Alex has portrayed the character of Simon Barlow for the past 15 years, but is anticipated to exit the show in the next few months.
The performer, who joined Corrie at the age of seven, recently updated his Instagram stories to inform fans that he doesn’t have much time left at the studios.
Sharing a picture from his dressing room, Alex added the following: ‘Well my day is done! Nice and short day today! I’m going to miss this little space dearly when I go!’.
‘So glad I’ve got some shooting days left! So thankful!’.

Simon’s decline started at the beginning of the year, shortly after his father Peter (Chris Gascoyne) departed the cobbles.
Feeling isolated, Simon resorted to consuming alcohol to numb his emotions.
As his reliance on alcohol escalated, Simon ended up endangering himself and Sam (Jude Riordan) when he crashed Leanne’s (Jane Danson) car.
After Sam blacked out and was hospitalized, Leanne was compelled to inform Nick (Ben Price) that the accident occurred because Simon was under the influence.
Before leaving, Simon and Leanne will become involved in ‘The Institute’, a dangerous cult posing as a self-help group at the Chariot Square Hotel.
He initially attended the seminars in recent episodes and was taken there by his mother following his drunk driving ban.
The two were immediately captivated by the speaker Rowan (Emrhys Cooper), who took great pride in the flattering remarks they both gave him.
