After a three-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a nine-year-old boy, a woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
The boy, who was from Hampshire, passed away at the scene of the accident on the A354 Salisbury Road at East Woodyates in north Dorset shortly before 5.30pm on Monday.
The incident involved a cattle transporter, a van, and a car carrying the child.
The woman, in her 30s and hailing from Hampshire, was apprehended on suspicion of murder and a driving offense.
She sustained injuries and is currently under police custody after being taken to the hospital.
Authorities are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage of the occurrence, which involved a DAF cattle transporter truck and trailer, a white Ford Transit van, and a grey Citroen DS9.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Third, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, stated: ‘Our foremost thoughts are with the family of the young boy during this very challenging period.
‘Several initial inquiries have been conducted, and detectives are now launching an investigation to determine the complete circumstances of the incident.
‘I urge any witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police, or anyone who may have recorded relevant dashcam footage, to please come forward.
‘Additionally, I am eager to speak with anyone who may have observed the driving behavior of any of the vehicles involved leading up to the incident.
‘A thorough examination of the scene was conducted overnight, and I would like to express my gratitude to the public for their patience and understanding during the road closure.’
