England captain Harry Kane will depart from the Three Lions squad and go back to Bayern Munich to keep recovering from an ankle injury.
The Bayern striker got the injury after hitting the post in last Saturday’s win over Darmstadt.
After not joining first-team training at St George’s Park during the week, he was left out of the squad that lost to a 1-0 defeat to Brazil at Wembley on Saturday night.
Gareth Southgate’s side play against Belgium on Tuesday but Kane won't take part with the England manager confirming he will now go back to Germany.
‘He’s going back, he won’t be fit for Tuesday,’ Southgate said at a press conference.
Bayern will be hoping for Kane to recover as quick as possible with some huge games on the horizon for the German champions.
Soon after the international break, they face Borussia Dortmund on 30 March before playing Heidenheim a week later.
The Bavarian giants then go to north London for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash against Arsenal on 9 April with the return leg taking place a week later.
For England, Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins was chosen in Kane’s absence against Brazil. Ivan Toney was also in the squad and will hope to get his opportunity against Belgium midweek.
‘There were lots of very good performances,’ Southgate said. ‘It is a top level game and we have controlled long parts of it. We had as many attempts as them on goal but in the end it is that ruthless moment that decides the game.
‘We’ve had a lot of players go on, a couple of debuts and some really important individual performances for us.’
On the performances of Watkins and Anthony Gordon, who made his England debut, Southgate added: ‘Very good. Anthony was excellent both sides of his game. With 15 minutes to go there were lots of changes and I think at the point the crowd were really pleased with the performance.
‘Of course when you lose the game it turns negative but we have to keep the context with that.’
