President Biden and first lady Jill Biden sent their good wishes to Kate Middleton on Friday, after she announced she had cancer.
Biden wrote on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, to express his support for Kate's recovery, saying “Jill and I join millions around the world in praying for your full recovery, Princess Kate.”
Jill Biden also posted on X, saying “You are brave, and we love you.”
They offered words of comfort after Kate, in a video filmed outside, shared her medical news and asked for privacy for her family during this tough time.
Kate, 42, said in the video that her diagnosis had been a big surprise, and she and her husband had been dealing with it privately for the sake of their children.
She also mentioned that she needed time to recover from a major surgery before starting her treatment, referring to an abdominal surgery she had in January and a subsequent stay at a hospital in London.
At the time of the surgery, Kate believed her condition was noncancerous and the surgery had been successful. However, tests after the surgery revealed the presence of cancer cells.
She stated that she is now in the early stages of chemotherapy.
This news comes shortly after King Charles III was diagnosed with cancer after having a prostate procedure.
Concerns about her health arose after a photo was shared on social media that appeared to be doctored. After facing criticism, Kate apologized apologized for the doctored photo as media outlets retracted the image.
There were also conspiracy theories about Kate’s health after a low-quality video emerged showing her leaving a farm shop near her home earlier in the week.
In her announcement on Friday, Kate mentioned that she and Prince William were shocked by the news and needed time to explain everything to their children: George, Charlotte, and Louis, and to reassure them that she will be alright.
She also expressed her support for all those affected by cancer, urging them not to lose hope or faith as they face the disease.
