President Biden and former President Trump are tied in Pennsylvania in a hypothetical rematch of the 2020 election, according to a new CNN poll.
The survey discovered that 46 percent of registered voters in Pennsylvania would back Trump if the presidential election were today, with an equal percentage supporting Biden. Six percent would back another candidate and 2 percent do not plan to vote.
Also, fewer people in Pennsylvania approve of Biden’s job performance as president, according to the poll. Forty percent now approve, a decrease from 43 percent in October.
In the new survey, 40 percent also have a positive view of Trump compared to 38 percent who feel the same about Biden.
Biden won Pennsylvania in the 2020 presidential election, switching it from the 2016 election where Trump won the key battleground state.
In a polling average from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ on the 2024 election between the former and current president in Pennsylvania, Trump is currently at 46.3 percent, while Biden is at 41.5 percent.
Biden gave his first major general election speech in Pennsylvania earlier this year, going after Trump and warning that his reelection would be a risk to American democracy. The speech came about three years after the Jan. 6, 2021 attack at the U.S. Capitol, and Biden argued that Republicans have embraced the extremism displayed that day
“Democracy is on the ballot. Your freedom is on the ballot,” Biden said in the speech.
The new CNN poll was conducted between March 13 and 18, featuring a sample of 1,132 registered voters in Pennsylvania. It has a margin of error of 3.8 percentage points.
