Scarlette Douglas burst into tears when she went to the hospital this week as part of her ongoing efforts to have a baby.
The 37-year-old presenter of A Place In The Sun has been updating fans about her process of freezing her eggs to increase her chances of having children in the future. she freezes her eggs to better her odds of becoming a parent someday, and she was deeply moved by a recent egg-retrieval procedure.
She shared on Instagram this week: 'Honestly, I was very uneasy about going in today, ladies.
'The trigger injection really worsened the bloating and lower abdominal pain, and as the time for my egg retrieval approached, I became more and more uncomfortable. I had to sit on my left side for most of the day!
'Anyway, they eventually called me in, and the nurse, anesthetist, and doctor were all there, extremely caring and friendly. Everything was thoroughly explained, and I felt well taken care of.
'I did shed a few tears just before the sedation, mostly because I was scared and nervous, but also because you have to go through it all by yourself; no one can accompany you.'
The former I’m A Celebrity star revealed some amazing news that 19 of her 24 eggs have been determined as 'viable for freezing', and she had taken a couple of well earned naps.
She continued: 'Anyway, best sleep I’ve ever had, came out, was in pain so they gave me some more pain relief, hung around for roughly an hour and a half afterwards and just as I was ready to leave the recovery room, I was told of my 24 eggs that were collected, 19 were viable for freezing!!!!!
'I was over the moon! That was more than I could have ever imagined and so I was and am so so happy that, to this point, it has all been worth it.
'Off for my second nap since so catch you all tomorrow!'
In another post on Thursday, she continued to update fans as she revealed she is still on medication to 'remove all the excess hormones' from her bodies, and shrink her ovaries after the procedure.
She wrote alongside the new video: 'I thought that was the end of injections but turns out I have another 5 days of them plus 8 days of tablets.
Thanks for sticking with me for the ride, I’ll continue my diary until the end of the month so you know what recovery is like, but honestly ladies, this has been so worth it!
'On another note, I know I’ve not been looking my best lately but my body has been going through quite a lot over the last 21 days 😅 I promise I’ll stick a bit of make up on tomorrow and Saturday for Ideal Home Show though 😆'
Scarlette also updated her fans and revealed while she was unable to attend an award show she was meant to be at as a guest, she had been sensible and decided to rest and recover before a busier weekend.
