Monitoring website Downdetector alerted users to issues after the mail service went down in the afternoon.
Yahoo Mail experienced a surge in users reporting problems in the UK and Europe, as per Downdetector.
Email users could not access their accounts due to a login error and server problems.
This follows a series of outages impacting major retailers and websites such as Greggs and Meta.
Sainsbury’s CEO apologized to customers following a technical problem that led the supermarket to cancel thousands of online deliveries.
The free email platform has an estimated 230 million users globally, compared to Google’s Gmail, which has over 1.5 billion users.
