MetaFacebook's, Messenger's, and Instagram's apps have suddenly ceased to function for the third time in a month, preventing millions from accessing their accounts.
The outage was initially reported around 10:45am ET and has impacted users in the UK, US, across Europe, and in large portions of Asia.
A report from DownDetector, which tracks online outages, indicates that nearly 60% of users have encountered issues logging into Facebook's messenger app today. 26% also mentioned being unable to access the website.
Facebook users are receiving notifications stating that their accounts have been suspended or their sessions have expired, leading them to log in again.
Meanwhile, Messenger users are appearing as unavailable to their friends.
Some users have mentioned being able to send messages, but recipients cannot respond.
In addition, 66% of Instagram users say they have been unable to access the app.
This comes just weeks after similar outages caused the apps to go down for millions on two occasions within a week.
The cause and duration of the outage is still not known.
