The League of Conservation Voters, a significant liberal advocacy organization and funder, has announced that it will contribute a massive $120 million to the 2024 election cycle.
The $120 million from the conservation group’s Victory Fund marks its largest investment ever in an election cycle.
This brings the total spending from external groups supporting President Biden’s reelection to $1 billion this year, as reported by The New York Times. The New York Times reported.
“Our investment must match the significance of the situation, and the situation has never been more crucial,” said Pete Maysmith, Senior Vice President of Campaigns at the League of Conservation Voters, in a written statement.
He also highlighted the contrast between the Biden administration’s track record – having passed significant climate legislation in 2022 – and that of former President Trump, who has broadly supported planet-warming fossil fuels and, in the past, dismissed climate change as a “hoax.”
“Trump and MAGA Republicans have made it clear that they will spare no effort to dismantle climate progress and our democratic institutions to serve Big Oil’s agenda if they are in control. Meanwhile, President Biden has done more to combat the climate crisis than any other president in our country’s history,” he stated.
The announcement comes as other pro-Biden groups have also made substantial investments this cycle, such as the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) pledging $200 million to support the president's re-election, and the pro-Biden super PAC Future Forward planning to spend $250 million on advertising. is expected The League of Conservation Voters, a significant liberal advocacy group and funder, has announced that it will contribute a massive $120 million to the 2024 election cycle.
