LONDON (AP) — According to The Sun newspaper, Prince William and his wife Catherine were seen at a farm shop near their Windsor home. This is the first footage of Kate since she underwent abdominal surgery for an unspecified condition two months ago.
The newspaper released a brief video late Monday showing William and Kate smiling as they went shopping together. It was filmed on Saturday in Windsor, west of London.
The Sun quoted Nelson Silva, who claimed to have filmed the video, saying, “Kate seemed happy and relaxed. They appeared happy just to be able to go shopping and socialize.”
The couple’s Kensington Palace office did not provide a comment.
The palace has announced that Kate, 42, will resume official duties after Easter, most likely once her children return to school on April 17.
The Sun featured “Great to see you again, Kate!” on its front page and stated that it chose to release the footage “in an attempt to put an end to what the Palace has termed the ‘madness of social media.’”
There has been intense and sometimes unrealistic speculation about the princess’s condition during her absence. The palace has not revealed details but stated that it is not related to cancer.
Kensington Palace shared a photo of Kate and her children George, Charlotte, and Louis on March 10 to coincide with Mother’s Day in the U.K. However, this move backfired when The Associated Press and other news agencies withdrew it from publication due to apparent manipulation, leading to even more speculation.
Kate released a statement acknowledging that she enjoys experimenting with editing and apologized for any confusion caused by the photo.
