The sorrowful final Hairy Bikers episode with Dave Myers displays him expressing how he desires to ‘live in the present’.
The TV star passed away at 66 last month, two years after being diagnosed with cancer.
His long-time friend and co-star Si King, 57, was one of the people by his side in the final moments.
Now the pair’s final ever Hairy Bikers episode will air tonight, with the men both sharing the impact of the trip as it all wraps up.
Filming the show in Devon and Dorset while Myers was undergoing chemotherapy, they explained how thankful they were for what they’d been able to achieve when filming the series.
‘I’ve had chemotherapy all the time I’ve been filming, and it hasn’t been easy but I got there and it’s a wonderful feeling,’ Myers told the camera.
Getting emotional on camera, Si then shared: ‘We’ve done it, but more importantly he’s done it.
‘He’s my mate but I love him like family, like a brother, and I’m lost for words. It’s quite remarkable what he’s done.’
The episode then wraps up after Myers said: ‘Who knows what the future holds but for the moment I’m living in the present, and it’s pretty fine I’ll tell you.’
After the credits roll, a tribute reads: ‘In loving memory of our friend, Dave Myers. 1957-2024’
In one of The Hairy Bikers Go West episodes that aired before his death, Myers spoke of his joy at being reunited with his motorbike.
He said: ‘It’s been glorious, and the motorcycling has been glorious, what can I say, it just feels so good to be alive.’
When publicly announcing Myers’ death, Si said he would miss him ‘every day’, as well as ‘the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime’.
He wrote: ‘Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment.
‘My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime.
‘I wish you God’s speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya.’
Hairy Bikers Go West airs tonight at 7pm on BBC Two.
