Elon Musk, a billionaire in the tech and media industries, mentioned a possibility of endorsing a presidential candidate before the upcoming general election, although he does not expect to provide financial support to either President Biden or former President Trump.
“In the final stretch, I might decide to endorse a candidate, but I haven't made a decision yet,” Musk told former CNN host Don Lemon in an interview published on Monday. “I want to carefully consider my choice before the election, and if I do endorse a candidate, I will explain the reasons behind my decision.”
Earlier in their discussion, Lemon asked Musk about reports stating that he had met with Trump in Florida and directly inquired if the former president had requested financial support from him.
Musk responded that Trump did not ask for money, and when Lemon asked about the topic of their conversation, Musk stated, “Let’s just say he did most of the talking.”
Lemon questioned Musk, one of the wealthiest individuals globally, about his intentions to financially contribute to either Trump or Biden.
“Although I will express my opinion, I do not wish to significantly influence the situation with money,” Musk stated.
He mentioned that he is not favoring any candidate at the moment but did jokingly say he was “leaning away from Biden.
