The Biden administration’s legal battle over regulating social media posts reached the Supreme Court on Monday. The justices will discuss if federal officials broke the First Amendment by encouraging platforms to delete posts they found untrue or deceptive.
Two Republican attorneys general brought the case in a challenge to the administration’s efforts to control false information on the internet, which they called a government “campaign of censorship.” They claimed federal officials worked with social media platforms to identify disliked speakers and content.
The case focuses on the Biden administration's actions to regulate online misinformation about the 2020 election and COVID-19, especially doubts about vaccines.
The verbal arguments will take place at 10 a.m. EDT.
