The national police chief, Pol Gen Torsak Sukvimol, asserts that his deputy, Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn, is not being unfairly targeted or subjected to illegal activity in connection with being summoned to report to Thung Song Hong police station regarding money laundering charges related to the BNKMaster online gambling website.
He stated that the investigating officers are simply following the evidence they have already collected, and mentioned that this is the first summons issued for Surachate to report to them on Thursday.
He mentioned that it is up to Surachate whether or not he will comply. If he refuses, a second summons will be issued, and if he still does not comply, then an arrest warrant will be issued.
The national police chief asserts that the investigating officers are authorized to issue the summonses, as the case under their jurisdiction is separate from the one currently pending with the National Anti-Corruption Commission.
Regarding the copy of the first summons sent to the national police chief, Pol Gen Torsak stated that it is now with the legal affairs department of the Royal Thai Police.
According to the process, he explained that Surachate is obligated to report to the Royal Thai Police in his role as a suspect, and then a fact-finding panel will be established to consider disciplinary action against him.
Surachate’s attorney is scheduled to hold a press conference on Tuesday, purportedly to reveal the money trail of the BNKMaster online gambling website and those profiting from the gambling operations.
