Seven individuals were shot in a shooting that occurred early in the morning in Washington, D.C. on Sunday. Two people were killed and five others were injured, according to the police.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said its officers came to 7th and P Streets, Northwest, after receiving reports of a shooting just after 3 a.m. on Sunday morning. They discovered two men with gunshot wounds who died at the scene, as well as four victims who were injured there.
All four injured adults were taken to local hospitals, while another injured person went to a local hospital seeking treatment for a gunshot wound.
Police are currently investigating the possible reason behind the shooting. The police stated in a press release that a preliminary investigation “suggests that one or more suspects intentionally fired a gun at the victims.”
The police department is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the incident.
“We’re asking anyone who may have any information related to this incident or may have witnessed it to contact the Metropolitan Police Department,” Executive Assistant Chief Jeffrey Carroll said at an early morning press conference.
