Those traveling in or out of London after St Patrick’s Day festivities may face serious delays, because a signal problem stopped all lines between two big stations.
All lines between Milton Keynes Central and London Euston were blocked, according to Avanti, but have now reopened – however customers may still see delays and cancellations.
Customers have since reported trains sitting stationary as the congestion from trains around Euston continues to clear up.
Avanti replied to one customer and said: ‘If you choose to abandon your journey your ticket will be refunded.
‘In terms of additional costs, this is something our Resolutions Team can look into to consider.’
Four trains to Manchester were cancelled from Euston earlier today, according to the Manchester Evening News, though the issue appears to be resolved now.
National Rail announced: ‘A fault with the signalling system between Watford Junction and London Euston / Clapham Junction means all lines are blocked.
‘As a result, services between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised. Major disruption is expected until 19:00.’
