Katherine Ryan has disclosed that she has not been asked to return to Celebrity Gogglebox, stating that she’s not ‘the right’ fit.
The 40-year-old comedian entertains in various ways through her podcast, shows, and regular TV appearances, having appeared as a television critic since June 2023 on the adored Channel 4 programme alongside her husband Bobby Koostra.
But now, Katherine has opened up about not being invited back, after appearing on the show with Roman Kemp and Davina McCall.
She remarked: ‘I enjoyed working with Bobby. I appreciate that people got to see more of Bobby and his funny side. He’s truly very funny.
‘I’m unsure if we were the best fit for Celebrity Gogglebox mainly because we were new and there are so many other families and couples on there, so I don’t think we were featured much.
‘I loved being on it and I would love to contribute more.’
She continued to The Sun: ‘So far, we haven’t been asked back, but that’s okay. I understand that I’m not right for everything. I cherished the opportunity because it’s a show that we watch.’
‘But I’m thinking about how I can be funnier. I'm not going to pretend that I didn’t notice that I was only on it for a few seconds.’
She added that she doesn’t believe she’s ‘as funny’ as some of the other stars such as father-son duo Roman and Martin Kemp, or Rylan Clark and his mother Linda, but she still considered it ‘a privilege’ to take part.
Mother of three Katherine, who has revealed more about her life with Bobby in their new parenting series, previously told Metro.co.uk that she is famously not very selective about her projects.
‘I love having this job and I feel very thankful to be able to make people laugh for a living, especially when times are very dark. If it’s funny, then I definitely want to do it,’ she stated.
‘They have sort of asked about Strictly before, not a direct offer, but again, that just requires a lot of rehearsal time and I haven’t been married long enough to have an affair!’
However, she admitted that there is one show she’s absolutely not willing to take part in: I’m A Celebrity, following the participation of individuals like Matt Hancock and Nigel Farage in the jungle in recent years.
She remarked: ‘I’ve witnessed that show do wonderful things for my friends Vicky Pattinson and Joel Dommett, we really got to see his personality on I’m A Celebrity and I think comedians are great because they have nothing to hide, we’re very candid anyway so you could film us 24 hours a day and I think it’s fine.
‘But I don’t handle sunlight well, and I don’t think I’d like to eat unusual things and be scared, and I don’t like snakes or spiders.’
Katherine jokingly added: ‘I’m the worst candidate to really be on that show, so I keep having children to make sure I’m not available!’
Discussing the show featuring individuals like Farage and Hancock, Katherine told us: ‘I strongly oppose glorifying people like Matt Hancock and Nigel Farage and turning them into light entertainment material when I believe that they’re very dangerous individuals who have directly harmed numerous families.’
