LOS ANGELES (AP) — A fire on Friday completely destroyed the Los Angeles home of Cara Delevingne, who is a model and actor.
A firefighter was sent to the hospital in fair condition with unspecified injuries, and a person from the house suffered minor smoke inhalation, according to Nicholas Prange, the spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
After TMZ reported the fire at her house in the Studio City area, Delevingne shared several Instagram stories. She is currently performing in the play “Cabaret” on London’s West End and was not at home during the fire.
When firefighters arrived at the two-story house, they found heavy fire at the rear, which destroyed a room and spread to the attic, Prange said. After ensuring everyone was out, they took a defensive position and the roof collapsed. It took them over two hours to extinguish the flames.
Later on, Delevingne posted a video showing a street filled with fire trucks with flashing lights.
In another Instagram story, she thanked all the firefighters and people who came to help.
In a third Instagram story, she posted a photo of her two cats with a caption expressing her sadness. She later clarified that her cats were unharmed in the fire.
The home was also featured in a 2021 profile in Architectural Digest. It's a white brick house with two pools and two trampolines in the backyard, built in 1941 for the Von der Ahe family, who founded the Vons grocery chain.
Delevingne and her designer added fun features, including a costume room for dress-up parties, a bathroom dedicated to David Bowie, poker and billiard rooms, and a ball pit.
Delevingne mentioned to the magazine that she likes to go in the ball pit when she's having a bad day, as it's hard to cry in a ball pit.
There was no immediate response to emails seeking comment from Delevingne's representatives.
The cause of the fire was being investigated.
Cara Delevingne, who is 31 years old and from London, gained fame as a fashion model in the early 2010s and later became an actress. She appeared in the 2016 DC Comics film “Suicide Squad” and the 2017 film “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” directed by Luc Besson.
She also had roles in the Hulu series “Only Murders in the Building” in 2022, alongside Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, and in FX’s “American Horror Story” in 2023.
