Nathan Wade, who played a key role in the previous President Trump's criminal case in Georgia, stepped down on Friday following a Georgia judge's ruling that either he or Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) needed to resign due to a conflict of interest.
Judge Scott McAfee's ruling comes after it was revealed in January that Willis and Wade were previously romantically involved. Wade's resignation enables the continuation of the election interference case against Trump and his co-defendants.
"I am offering my resignation in the interest of democracy, in dedication to the American public, and to expedite the progress of this case," Wade stated.
