Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel says the club’s quarter-finals draw against Arsenal means they face the 'most difficult road imaginable' in the Champions League.
The six-time Champions League winners were matched with Arsenal in the last-eight during Friday’s draw.
Bayern defeated Lazio to advance to the quarter-finals, while Arsenal triumphed over Porto in a penalty shootout.
Mikel Arteta’s side will be slightly favored against Bayern, but it’s a huge match in the ongoing fantastic Champions League knockout stage.
The winner of the tie will encounter either current champions Manchester City or 14-time champions Real Madrid.
And Tuchel states that this makes the clash against Arsenal even more difficult.
‘We certainly have the most difficult road ahead of us – now playing against one of the best teams in Europe,’ said Tuchel.
‘Arsenal have been consistently performing at the top for two years. It’s a well-balanced, dangerous team that scores a lot of goals. But we will be ready for it. We know our strengths.’
Bayern are trailing Bayer Leverkusen by ten points in the Bundesliga and have essentially conceded their title.
The Champions League is their sole remaining opportunity for a trophy this season.
Tuchel will leave at the end of the season, following a troubling first full campaign at the Allianz Arena.
The German clinched the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021, defeating Manchester City 1-0 in the final in Porto.
