Mauricio Pochettino has strangely mentioned that the weather forecast will impact Chelsea’s chances of defeating Leicester City in the FA Cup.
Chelsea suffered a defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final last month and the FA Cup is their last opportunity to secure major silverware in what has been a disappointing season.
The west Londoners are set to host Championship leaders Leicester at Stamford Bridge on Sunday in the quarter-finals and are considered as strong favorites.
Before the match, Chelsea head coach Pochettino was asked if reaching the semi-finals of the competition would be seen as a success – or if that feeling would only come if they won the trophy – considering their second-place finish to Liverpool.
‘I don’t know because it’s difficult here to judge what it means to be successful,’ Pochettino said in his press conference on Friday.
‘You know, sometimes the expectations are very high. It depends on the atmosphere on the day. In England, sometimes there is rain, sometimes it is sunny.
‘To defeat Leicester would be huge for us in the dressing room and on the training ground.
‘To have another game at Wembley… between you and me, some players did not sleep the day before the [Carabao Cup] final.
‘That will provide more experience and it will help us improve. For us, it’s a chance to reach another semi-final. It is really good for us.
The opportunity [to qualify for] Europe through the FA Cup is huge. Leicester are performing very well and the coach is doing fantastic. It will be tough.’
