Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin stated today that he might get a chance to see former prime minister Thaksin in Chiang Mai during his visit to the province tomorrow.
He mentioned that there is no scheduled meeting with Thaksin, who has begun a three-day visit to his hometown today after 17 years of living in exile abroad.
Srettha noted that it is normal for many people, including officials and politicians, to show up to welcome Thaksin, as he was prime minister for several years and has been away from his hometown for 17 years.
When asked if Thaksin's visit to Chiang Mai was intended to boost the popularity of the Pheu Thai party, the prime minister commented that the visit could have political implications.
He expressed his willingness to receive advice from former prime ministers, regardless of their party affiliation, because each of them is capable and he can gain from their experience.
