Emmerdale Actress Samantha Giles appears completely different from Bernice Blackstock in her upcoming role as she prepares to perform in theaters throughout the country.
The ITV soap veteran, who exited the Dales last year, has secured a part in the new traveling production of The Syndicate, which will be visiting theaters across the UK.
Samantha, who charmed audiences with her iconic portrayal of Bernice’s humorous one-liners, will portray Denise and it’s evident that the character is very different from her role in the soap opera.
‘Many people are only familiar with my portrayal of Bernice, who is a glamorous individual, and Denise is the complete opposite,’ shared the actress.
‘She’s a bit plain, life hasn’t treated her well, she’s completely distinct from Bernice which is enjoyable to portray.’
The Syndicate will feature fellow soap actress Brooke Vincent, renowned for her role as Sophie Webster in Coronation Street, and it will be directed by Gaynor Faye, who portrayed Megan Macey in Emmerdale.
Samantha, 52, chose to depart from Emmerdale as Bernice last year.
‘It was really nice to have Bernice involved in a storyline which was quite serious but naturally, there were some humorous moments,’ said Sam of her departure plot, which saw Bernice leave after borrowing money in her sister Nicola King’s name.
‘Giving a comedic character a serious storyline, I think, should be impactful’, she remarked.
‘Who knows what [Bernice] going to go off and do now? Who knows if she’ll be back in the future?
‘Thank you to Emmerdale, I’m going to miss everybody but hopefully I will work with them all again at some point in the future.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
