Rajon Rondo, a two-time NBA champion, was arrested in Indiana recently for charges connected to having a firearm and drugs.
The Indiana State Police announced that Rondo, 37, was driving a 2022 black Tesla that was pulled over by a trooper around 1 p.m. on Sunday after someone reported the vehicle was driving recklessly on Interstate 65 southbound in Bartholomew County.
During the stop, the trooper smelled marijuana in the car and conducted a search. They found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm in Rondo’s possession. The police stated that Rondo is not allowed to have the firearm because there's a protection order against him.
A minor who was in the car was released to a family member, according to the department's release.
Rondo was arrested for possessing marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm while being prohibited. He was taken to Jackson County jail and released after posting bond. A date for an initial appearance in the Jackson County Superior Court will be arranged soon, as per the police department.
A four-time All-Star who played for nine teams during his 16-year career, Rondo helped the Los Angeles Lakers win the NBA title in 2020. Prior to that, he played for the Boston Celtics teams that defeated the Lakers in the 2008 NBA Finals and lost to the Lakers in the 2010 Finals.
He also played for the Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers. He wrapped up his career in the 2021-22 season.
