WASHINGTON — The U.S. Army has expanded a deal with Maxar Intelligence for 3D land models utilized to build immersive training settings for soldiers, the company reported on March 12.
Maxar, located in Westminster, Colorado, was granted Phase 4 of the U.S. Army’s One World Terrain (OWT) agreement. The initiative was originally granted to Vricon, a company acquired by Maxar in 2020. The corporation uses data from its high-detail Earth imaging satellites to produce 3D mapping products.

The One World Terrain agreement with Maxar is projected to be
valued at $94.7 million if all choices are exercised. The company did not reveal the worth of the updated agreement. A Maxar representative mentioned that the $94.7 million estimation previously reported “doesn’t capture the complete value of all our OWT agreements so far.” Susanne Hake, general manager of U.S. government at Maxar Intelligence, mentioned the One World Terrain program “enables more sophisticated modeling, simulation and training systems to optimize warfighter readiness.”
Hake added that Maxar’s images and data analysis “provides an extremely precise 3D portrayal of Earth.”
