Owen Hargreaves identified Pau Cubarsi as Barcelona's potential future star following his display in the 3-1 Champions League win over Napoli match on Tuesday evening.
Xavi's team drew 1-1 with Napoli in the first leg, but goals from Fermin Lopez, Joao Cancelo, and Robert Lewandowski have secured Barca's place in Friday's Champions League quarter-final draw.
Meanwhile, Cubarsi made his Champions League debut and the 17-year-old put in an impressive performance against Napoli's star striker Victor Osimhen.
Hargreaves told TNT Sports following Barcelona's victory, 'He [Cubarsi] was the star of the show.'
'Yamal is different because he's obviously the winger. This kid [Cubarsi] was finding passes effortlessly, he made it look so easy.
'He was physical when necessary. It's quite unusual for a Spanish centre-back to be as physical against someone like Osimhen.'
'I thought his awareness, everything, he was just… 17 and in his first start, he played exceptionally well.
'That is a star, present and future.'
'I thought he was the best player on the pitch alongside Yamal.
'He's obviously very different from [Carles] Puyol. [Gerard] Pique was great, but I think his long-range passing surpasses both of them by far.
'He's unique, I believe he's very special. It's rare for a 17-year-old to play like that in a knockout game.'
Former England manager Glenn Hoddle, who was working as a pundit with Hargreaves for TNT Sports, commented: 'Incredible performance, that.
'We watched him all night, we were thoroughly impressed with him.
'Look at this pass, absolute top quality. If that's Ronald Koeman at his best, incredible, for a 17-year-old.
'As a defender, to possess that level of maturity, to make tactical moves, using his body to maneuver, he was astute, considering his age of 17.'
