The Jonesboro Police Department stated that the shooting occurred at a private party and the two individuals who were killed, a woman and a man, were both acquainted with the shooter.
Three of the five people injured in the shooting did not have any known connection to the suspected shooter. One of the injured, a woman, did have a relationship with the shooter.
Authorities did not specify whether the fifth victim – who was announced to be receiving treatment in a later announcement on Sunday – had any known connection to the suspect.
Police stated that there is no current danger to the community, but the investigation is still ongoing.
