President Biden conveyed his sympathy for National Guardsmen and a Border Patrol agent who passed away in a recent helicopter crash on Saturday.
“These courageous Americans devoted their lives to safeguarding our nation,” Biden said mentioned in a statement. “They enlisted knowing the dangers and believing in the mission of serving their fellow Americans by ensuring our nation's safety. Our gratitude is deep, and their sacrifice will always be remembered.”
“We offer our heartfelt condolences to their families and loved ones, as well as their colleagues in the National Guard and U.S. Border Patrol,” Biden continued.
On Friday, a helicopter that was over patrolling the southern border in Texas crashed. The incident led to the deaths of two National Guard soldiers and a Border Patrol agent, the military said, as reported by The Associated Press. An additional soldier on board was injured.
“We pray for the injured Guardsman’s speedy recovery,” Biden said in the Saturday statement.
Gen. Daniel Hokanson, chief of the National Guard Bureau, said posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that he and the “National Guard family, express our deepest condolences to the families, loved ones, friends & colleagues of the two Army National Guard Soldiers and the U.S. Border Patrol officer killed in today’s helicopter crash in Texas.”
“We grieve these devastating deaths. They are an extremely sorrowful loss. We pray for the swift recovery of a third Guard Soldier who was seriously injured. All of these individuals exemplify selfless service & the finest qualities of America,” Hokanson continued.
