An 81-year-old man was fatally stabbed in the neck with a kitchen knife in Hockwold, Norfolk.
The victim, who has been named locally as Mervyn Moulton, was attacked on Main Street just before 9am on February 29.
He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and later transferred to the West Suffolk Hospital where he died on Thursday.
A post-mortem will be carried out by the Home Office in ‘due course’, Norfolk Constabulary said today.
‘Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service,’ police added.
Ashley Francis, 26, of Whittington Hill, King’s Lynn, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder.
He will sit in the dock of Norwich Magistrates Court tomorrow before appearing at Norwich Crown Court on April 2.
