A United Airlines Boeing plane lost a tire during takeoff from San Francisco International Airport, but the flight landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday.
The Boeing 777 jet, which has six tires on its main landing gear, was flying to Osaka International Airport in Japan.
The tire pieces landed in the employee parking lot, damaging a car, but no one was hurt, as reported by the Associated Press (AP).
The plane safely landed in Los Angeles around 1:30 p.m. local time on Thursday after the crew “reported a landing gear issue,” according to the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) statement to The Hill.
The FAA will investigate the incident.
The flight had 249 passengers and crew onboard, according to CNN. Another plane was arranged for the affected passengers, while the jet was towed away after landing in Los Angeles.
The Hill has contacted United Airlines for a statement.
