The police have identified Harleigh Hepworth as the teenager who was stabbed to death in a park in Wolverhampton.
At 4:30pm on Thursday, the 17-year-old was discovered in critical condition at West Park, which is less than a quarter of a mile away from Wolverhampton Inner Ring Road.
Paramedics declared him dead at the scene shortly after.
West Midlands Police have initiated a murder investigation, which is progressing rapidly.
The park remains closed as forensic officers examine the area, and there is an increase in patrols in the vicinity.
Officers are also visiting households and reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
Wolverhampton Police's Chief Superintendent, Rich Fisher, stated: 'Another young life has tragically been taken by knife crime, and our focus is on bringing those responsible to justice.'
He continued: 'We are keeping Harleigh’s family updated with this fast-moving investigation, and our thoughts are with them during this devastating time.'
The police expressed gratitude to the people of Wolverhampton, particularly those in the West Park area, for providing information following the terrible incident.
They also urged anyone who believes they can assist but has not yet come forward to contact them.
The police emphasized their dedication to working with partners across the city to educate young people, support vulnerable individuals, and promote child safety in efforts to combat the destructive impact of knife crime.
They declared that their efforts will persist as they refuse to tolerate such violence on the streets.
