People have paid their respects to a dedicated and kind father of three who took his own life following his wife's death.
Adam Thompson, 39, was discovered deceased at his residence in Mulbarton. Norfolk, by his own father on October 10.
His death occurred four months after the passing of his beloved partner of 11 years, Lucy, 44, who had fought against breast cancer for five years.
At the Norfolk Coroner’s Court, it was mentioned that his life had reached a low point while trying to cope with the sudden loss of another close family member, as well as his pet dog, around the time of his wife's death.
It was revealed that the former police officer used his wife’s cancer medication to end his own life, with the cause of death attributed to cocaine and opioid toxicity.
Adam and Lucy jointly managed the Reality Estate Agent firm in Norwich before she passed away last June.
A touching tribute from his family, read during the inquiry, mentioned that he was 'overwhelmed' when she ultimately succumbed to cancer and felt lost.
The tribute stated: 'He said he had lost his wonderful wife, best friend, and rock, and became depressed. He did not seem able to accept help and he was not himself.
‘Adam was so devastated with losing his wife. He would say he did not know how to go on without Lucy. He just wanted to be with her.’
In the tribute, he was described as ‘loving, kind, and caring’ and a ‘devoted dad, son, brother, and husband.’
It added: ‘He was very much loved by all, and he always had time for everyone and had many, many friends.
‘Adam worked very hard, played hard, and always took great care of himself working and going to the gym. Adam enjoyed playing and watching sports. He especially enjoyed playing golf.
‘Adam was devoted to his wife, Lucy, throughout their 11 years together.
‘Adam and Lucy were totally devoted to each other, and Lucy was everything to Adam.
‘Lucy became ill with cancer and Adam supported Lucy throughout her long five-year battle with cancer.’
